For this project I was tasked with creating high quality Italian food packaging, specializing in artisanal pasta and extra virgin olive oil. I came up with a modern, elegant design that is clear and will set itself apart on the shelf from its competitors. The name Mona is inspired by the famous Leonardo Da Vinci painting “Mona Lisa” and the idea of the logo was to simply border the font with a frame, insinuating the products are pieces of art in themselves.
The long tube style packaging is very unique for pasta, the combination of that and the elegant design will be a guaranteed eye catcher.
For the advertisements I decided to play off the Mona Lisa inspiration, creating the tagline "When food becomes art." Using a retro photo of 3 men observing paintings, I manipulated the image, adding a surrealistic element by swapping out one of the paintings for a photo of our tagliatelle pasta.
When the logo is utilized on the business cards and on the apron, the frame around the font is not closed off which gives the impression of a pot while the letters MONA act as the pasta.
