With this project I was tasked with creating print and digital menus for an upscale restaurant, as well as a stationary set. Vesuvio, which is the famous Italian Volcano that erupted in Pompeii is the name of the restaurant, so that served as an inspiration for the visuals. For my main image I created a collage combining an old black and white photo of Mount Vesuvio and imposed a fork twirling spaghetti from the top of the volcano. I feel the imagery is tasteful and also paradoxical and implies the customer is about the have an authentic Italian experience.
The black for my primary colour is meant to convey elegance and provide a clear contrast with the white text used for the menu items. For my logo and menu headings I went with a bold red, intending to stimulate the appetite as well as complimenting the namesake.  When it comes to fonts for my logo and headings  I chose Nobel Black Condensed and decided to squeeze the letters of Vesuvio using tracking, to symbolize the nature of a volcano. For the secondary fonts I used Nobel Regular Condensed.
